Pelican

I find Pelicans very interesting birds. I love to watch them glide along the top of the ocean water so close they can almost touch and than go up high and dive in for a fish. This pelican was sunning itself and maybe drying it's feathers out when I took a photo.
This is a commissioned piece on an 11 x 14" museum quality gesso board in Acrylic. THANK YOU
Any questions about future prints, please contact me at Lhartworks@aol.com

Izzy

Izzy is a dog with a lot of character and big beautiful eyes. That pose tells you she is listening and ready for something to do. When I paint animals, the eyes talk to me. It's their personality and I love painting your pet that is so important to you. They are a member of the family always there to greet us and give love.

This is a commissioned painting. Thank You very much.
Always welcome your comments.

Bull

Black Angus Bull

This Bull looks like he has  gentle eyes and is a friendly fellow. But my dad always told me, never turn your back on a Bull. It was important for me to add the nose ring in this painting and nose rings are often required for showing or handling to assist in controlling the animal. This is a commissioned painting (Thank You) and I look forward to seeing it framed.
The original nose ring will be added in the frame and I hope to share the photo with you. Inquiries may come to me through my email Lhartworks@aol.com and as always I enjoy hearing your comments.

Troy Garden Walk

This is a painting in process from the Troy Garden Walk. I was in a beautiful garden on Dearborn Rd. The Troy Garden club do a great job organizing their walk and I will try to inform all of you ahead of the time next year so if you interested you can attend.  I paint in steps, meaning I paint, take a break, work on something else, come back with fresh eyes and thoughts and work on it some more. I have a little more to do before I call this one complete. I will post this again when finished.
This is a painting in watercolor on size approx. 12" x 17"

Red

The owner mom of Red shared the following words with me about her beloved cat.

Red came to me with serious mouth issues. It was clear when he was young he suffered a traumatic head injury which made his jaw line abnormal and gave him a protruding and stoic chin that I adored. I rescued him from a shelter where he had been for over 8 months. He had abscess after abscess. Thankfully my holistic background got us through his traumas and in the process Red enjoyed a free range life and love beyond measure .Carrie Bartnik --Holistic Practitioner

Painting Party

Painting Parties in the Country

Occasionally  I also teach a group in between my projects. It gives people a chance to experience a few techniques of the art and have fun together. It also gives everyone a perspective of the process of the artists. We just do some of the basics that everyone can do whether you are experienced or a beginner. You end up with a piece you would enjoy putting on display with beautiful colors too, or give as a gift to someone you love.

Here is a photo of a group that was fun to work with and did a great job.

Beach Buddies Winner

Rory and Seamus

Here is the winner from the Beach Buddies drawing. Now you get to see the completion. Because there were two dogs that were brothers, we decided to do a painting instead of a pendant. These two Standard Poodles are brothers and were fortunate to have a home together.  They love playing and wrestling together and running around. This was a fun and different painting to do.
This painting is done in Acrylic on a 9x12" canvas.

Glori

Glori

This dog had the most beautiful coat of hair. A well trained Shetland Sheepdog. When I was taking photos of her (which I do occasionally when asked), I was lucky to get several great photos of her. In fact I will probably paint one of her in the future running with her hair flying just because the artist in me would like to. Glori, no longer with us will be truly missed.

This painting is in acrylic on a 6x8" museum quality hardboard and goes to a private collector. THANK YOU

Huckleberry Dude

This is a painting of Dude when he was a colt, He just turned 33  this month which makes 93 in human years. In the photo below is a recent selfie of him and I. So I decided to paint this piece and I will probably do a couple more of his life in his honor. He has always been  easy going and avoids confrontation with other horses.
He has to have special food to help his digestion now and he looks forward to each meal.  So I just wanted to let you know when you purchase a piece of artwork from me, you are also helping to support Dude.

Red

This is a big beautiful cat that I have enjoyed painting and privileged to do so. You will see three different paintings of Red or Buddy in future blogs and read some of the special care Red needed.  He has passed on now but has left special memories in the hearts that loved him. When I paint a portrait, my first goal is to achieve the beauty, personality and inner soul through their eyes. The following comment is from his mom-owner. THANK YOU Carrie!!

Red or Buddy is his name.  His eyes were like tiny oceans. Deep and beautiful green that would shift colors as you looked at him. I swear he had an "old soul". He was my shadow, following me around everywhere.
Linda, your painting allows me to look into my Red's eyes even though he has moved on to paradise. I am grateful for your ability to capture the essence of my furry loved one and allow my heart peace.

This painting was done in Acrylic. If you are interested in having a portrait done, you may contact me for more information at Lhartworks@aol.com

Two pals, Lily and LB sharing a nap together. So I would consider LB the cat, to be Lilly's favorite pillow with his warm body and soft fuzzy hair. Two pets, owned by Dr. Findora at the new animal hospital called Fox Run Animal Hospital in Metamora.
More of my work is on display there too. This is an 8x10" Acrylic painting on museum quality gesso board. Also available in prints. Inquiry's come to me at Lhartworks@aol.com
