This is a big beautiful cat that I have enjoyed painting and privileged to do so. You will see three different paintings of Red or Buddy in future blogs and read some of the special care Red needed. He has passed on now but has left special memories in the hearts that loved him. When I paint a portrait, my first goal is to achieve the beauty, personality and inner soul through their eyes. Red or Buddy is his name. His eyes were like tiny oceans. Deep and beautiful green that would shift colors as you looked at him. I swear he had an "old soul". He was my shadow, following me around everywhere.
