Light Boxes & Urns

Brand New Item Available : My new Light Box which can also include an Urn for the special pet in your life.

This is something brand new that I have been working on with my wood craftsman and printer and will make a wonderful item to cherish in your home. It has taken a while to get everything sized and designed correctly and now we are ready to go. There are four different sizes all made in Michigan.

First choice: You can purchase a light box with a print of many choices from my prints that are available.

Second choice: I will paint a portrait of  your pet  and have it made into a special print for the light to shine through and put into a light box. You will then own a small portrait to display and a light box.

Third choice: A light box that will include a Urn for a pet that has been cremated.

Abby

This is Abby, the Golden Retriever. She loves to go out on boat rides and enjoy sunshine and the fresh air blowing through her hair. Something to think about this time of the year. I paint landscapes as well as portraits so I had fun doing this as a combination. Abby was painted on canvas in acrylic. This went piece went to a private collector, thank you.

Painting at the garden

I enjoyed the beautiful weather and painting a plein-air piece of art work  during a garden tour in Romeo this year. I had quite a lot finished that day but those of you that know my work would  understand when I say I went home and put some more time into it before calling it completed.

Tappers garden is a beautiful serene place of well groomed and designed landscape with flowers, ponds, trees and sculptures. It is a must see when included in any garden tour and I was privileged to be able to paint there.

This painting is done in Acrylics on a wrapped canvas and sold to a private collector. Thank you

Black & White

Black and White is beautiful as well as color. For those that like art in black and white, this is a portrait of my work in graphite pencil which is a medium that I also use. Sometime's I will use pen and ink.  It shows a lot of detail and character in the animal or buildings. I not only sketch and paint animals, but buildings such as homes and barns, etc. If you would like something done in this medium, contact me for more information.

Mukwa and Misko

This Pendant was fun to do because I did something different by changing the direction of which I normally paint on a pendant. I usually have the length up and done instead of sideways. Sometimes it just works out better depending on the animals. This is a painting of a Bouvier and an Airedale on a 2 & 1/2 by 1 & 1/2" porcelain  piece and wrapped in Sterling Silver. This also goes to a private collector. thank you

Penning Cattle

This was a fun painting with a lot of action going on. This is a timed event with the horse and rider separating cattle and getting them into a pen before the timer goes off. In order to do this event, you need a well trained horse and an experienced rider.

There are Limited Edition prints available in canvas and heavy watercolor paper. For inquiries, you can contact me by email at Lhartworks@aol.com.  You can also view this painting and others on my website.

English Bulldogs

From reference photo's to a painting is today's posting.

I have been out of the state last week an unable to post on the blog, but now I am back.

Here are two photo's (one of my painting and one as a reference photo). This will show you what I am able to create from a photo of your pet or pet's.

The beauty of being an artist is to take a photo or subject and improve it into a wonderful painting.

This painting of these two English Bulldogs titled " Nice to meet you", was entered in the 51st Annual Michigan Thumb Show in 2011 and I am happy to say it won the People's Choice Award. I do enter from time to time in competition with other accomplished artist's.

I can take one or more of your animal's and put them together in a painting as well as work with composition, atmosphere, mood, lighting, etc.

For more information, contact me and check out my web site.
As always, thank you, Linda Hodge

Egret

Thank  you for your interest in my artwork. Also, thanks to those of you who took the time to send me your comments which are very important to me.

Please send me your comments anytime. I look forward to hearing from you.

Ok, my title for this new painting is called "Mating Season". Here's why. I was fortunate enough to get some photo's taken while I was visiting Hilton Head Island. I have learned that the color you see around the eye and the plumage feathers are there only during mating season. After that they loose those feathers and the color. That's what makes this painting special.

I have Limited Edition Giclee prints available of this painting. When I have Limited Edition prints made, I choose high quality printing on watercolor paper or canvas made to last over 200 years. The total numbers of prints made are kept to a low amount. "Mating Season" is limited to 125 prints. The price for an 11 x 14" on watercolor paper is $58.00 and if you want it on stretched canvas with a solid border on the outside edges, price is $125.00. The cost for shipping is extra.
